Get rid of it.
I grew up in a home where my mom is ex-Navy. Saturdays were reserved for deep cleaning the house and my mama would come up behind my siblings and I with the white glove test to make sure there was no dirt, lint, or dust on the baseboards or furniture. My 👏🏽 mama 👏🏽 DID 👏🏽 NOT 👏🏽 play.
I hated it when I was little but grown to appreciate it as I got older. Especially when visiting people’s houses, the visits were short if they house wasn’t clean.
A clean home is nice.
A clean temple is even better.
“The human heart is the most deceitful of all things, and desperately wicked. Who really knows how bad it is? But I, the LORD, search all hearts and examine secret motives. I give all people their due rewards, according to what their actions deserve.” - Jeremiah 17:9-10
Why does your heart desire certain things?
⁃ Is it to show off in front of your “enemies”? (First of all, what makes them an enemy? We’ll revisit this).
⁃ Is it because everyone else has it and you feel left out? (Comparison is the thief of joy).
⁃ Is it because you’re chasing a vain imagination that isn’t in God’s will?
⁃ Is it to advance God’s Kingdom?
Seek God this week on if there is any clutter or trash in your heart. Is there anything that takes up space that you need to get rid of? Would you be able to pass God’s white glove test? He’s not testing your heart to shamefully expose you but to reveal what’s there so you can get right with Him.
Remember, God cannot dwell in an unclean temple. Now if God isn’t there, who is?
Be Blessed! ❤️
